We came in on a Sunday morning with our kids, aged 2 and 5. They seating us in the back room on couches next to a kids play area. The very berry muffin was amazing. Excellent place for breakfast. Coffee is self serve, which was nice. I never like the courtesy "top off" to screw up your cream and/or sugar ratio. The kids were a little crazy, so we were thankful for the play area and casual atmosphere. Thanks again!

$$$$$$. Did lunch w/spouse. Food was very good. 1. Special quiche 2. Ruben. 3. Pie All was as good as just about any deli I've eat at. Nothing special, but no complaints about quantity or taste. Service was excellent. In addition to the above 2 soft drinks. My only issue is it was over priced. Almost $6 for 2 soft drinks and our bill was over $40. Eureka Springs is a nice place however prices like this will have us shopping elsewhere.
I really liked my breakfast croissant sandwich, but I'm not sure it was worth $10 ($8) without bacon), and my husband and I agreed that we prefer a sunny patio or window over the dark, cluttered, basement atmosphere for starting our day. We did go back the next day for some pie, which we took to go - I got the chocolate truffle cream pie, and my husband got the peanut butter cream pie. They were both DELICIOUS (the peanut butter was my favorite), but eating a whole piece of that pie was a MISTAKE...the food coma lasted from noon till bedtime. The pie is yummy, but I definitely recommend sharing a piece! One more thing - if you order any kind of flavored latte, be prepared for it to come in a twice-than-normal-sized mug with a mountain of whipped cream as big as your face...and order it "light" on the syrup if you aren't a fan of overly-sweet coffee drinks. Oh yeah, and they will not seat you unless everyone in your party is present, so be aware of that as well.

The most comfortable seat in the house is the couch. Only room for two though. The veggie grits were tasty with plenty of veggies. Self serve coffee is a great idea if you drink more than a cup or two.

Loved our breakfast here. I just wish they would've been open the other days of our trip (we were there Monday through Friday morning) so we could've enjoyed again. When we come back to Eureka we make sure Mud Street Cafe is on our list.

The coffee here is exceptional! The food is awesome and the atmosphere is great! An absolute must visit if you're in town

Saw it on yelp and thought we would try it because we've never been led wrong with Yelp! It was AAHHHMMAAZZING!!!! Best Rueben I've ever eaten and the chef salad was fresh and Delish! Def a place to eat! I quite enjoyed the 'help yourself ' coffee and even had 'to go' cups!!

My husband asked one of the hotel staff where he likes to eat breakfast and he recommended this place. We ordered the following items: 1. Veggies Grits 2. Blueberry pancake 3. Egg and veggies Burrito 4. Banana muffin 5. Coffee 6. Hot Chocolate I like the veggies grits and the banana muffin, but I didn't really care for the pancake. The coffee, I thought, was really good. It was so smooth that I didn't have to add sugar like I normally would. I didn't try the burrito nor the hot chocolate, but my son liked them. I like that they used plenty of veggies in the dishes. Service was very good.

Hippy basement bakery cafe of Dreams! Start the day right in Eureka Springs! THIS IS THE PLACE TO HAVE BREAKFAST! Strong, delicious, self-serve coffee bar and big plates of real food! Friendly local staff who really seem to love life and their funky town! Thank You Mud Street!

The atmosphere was very eclectic. Food was good but took longer then I would have expected.

This place is ok and definitely overhyped. It is ok. With some regards it is even good, such as their coffee. But the quality is definitely not enough to attract all the acclaim it has. Waiting times are pretty much insane, the menu is the same as for any breakfast joint around the country. The quality of food is good, but is nowhere near other fine dining places around Eureka Springs and nowhere near justifying outrageous prices (3$ your standard reheated industrial croissant) and waiting time (1h - from entering through the door to getting the order through). All in all - to be avoided, especially if you are expecting something extraordinary (like many other places in Eureka Springs are)

We stayed in Eureka for 3 nights. We went to Mud Street on the first morning, and we ended up going back on the two following mornings as well. So that should tell you what we thought of it. My wife and I both ordered specialty lattes the first morning, and it was really a mistake to order food to go along with it. They are massive and very tasty, just try not to think about healthiness when drinking them. We ordered the self serve coffees on the two following visits, and we were very impressed with the brews that they had to offer. Great service and a very neat underground setting.

Straight up best breakfast I ever ate in my life. Great coffee, great atmosphere, great service, great prices. The cottage fries are wonderful. You absolutely cannot go wrong here. It will be my "go-to" every time I'm in Eureka Springs.

- Mud Street is only open for breakfast and lunch. - it's easy to overlook this shop as they are in the basement and the street front entrance is just a door and small window. It kin - they have fast and friendly service - the waiting area is small but th

My husband and I enjoyed a good breakfast here. Kept it simple with eggs & sausage and we shared a banana muffin which was excellent. The food wasn't bad, but the prices were. Like I said, we shared two eggs and an order of sausage and a banana muffin and we each had coffee and we spent $25! I would have given 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable. But overall we enjoyed the atmosphere here better than any other breakfast place we went. I really cannot believe ES doesn't offer better (any) selections for sitting outdoors of a morning with coffee.

We walked into this place in a great mood and not expecting a good meal because this is a small town and not as good as the foods in other places. The place was kinda small with lots of people walking around and hanging out. The waiter put us at a table right in the middle of everything. We waited extra long for the food to get ready and it was about 30 - 40 minutes. While the food was getting ready, a bunch of people were standing around and putting their elbows on my chair and every time you'd turn around, you'd have butts in your face. Finally when the food was ready, I got quiche and soup. The soup was spectacular while the quiche was okay. There should be more chefs so the food doesn't take so long and eliminate that table, because if that table wasn't there and we were seated somewhere else it would have probably been 3 stars. In my opinion if we sat somewhere else the review would have changed, I'm just unlucky... Kid food critic- Sam Schaffer

Not sure why this place is given such high reviews. I was unimpressed and have concerns about food safety. The atmosphere is very kitschy, eclectic and just what one would expect for an underground art cafe. Coffee is serve your self. I ordered breakfast, which was ridiculously overpriced for two eggs, sausage, potatoes & dry toast. Sausage is supposed to be homemade, which was chewy and so tough, I had to carve it with a knife. It seemed that it may have been already cooked and simply reheated. Also, I noticed that bakery items were displayed on the bar without any cover or sneeze guards. Seriously, it was all open. Any restaurant prepared to sacrifice food safety for looks, should be avoided. When we arrived, serving staff were eating at the first table we could see. In what restaurant, does one go to and see a staff member shoving a plate of eggs into their mouth? Service was mediocre. We were seated at a conversation tile table with what looked like grape jelly smeared into the grout. Try getting that sticky goo up with a paper napkin. After our order came, I needed an extra plate because my entire order was crowded onto a too small plate. After waiting for 10 minutes for the server, my husband got up and flagged another server down. The toys for the kids might seem like a good idea, but who wants to listen to a whining Jack-in-the-Box for half an hour? This place is so overrated and lacks any concern for the customer. Unimpressed and I've been to many restaurants in Eureka Springs in the 15 years I've been coming here. This cafe doesn't even deserve mediocre and neither does the customer.

The best part about this place is the atmosphere. They also have wonderful food. They have a good selection of coffee. My wife ordered Seattle Chia and she loved it. As far as food I had the Veggie hash browns with a side of eggs and my wife had the mushroom spinach omelet with the spicy garlic cheese grits. The grits are a must along with the veggie hash browns. We split a blueberry pancake which was prolly the best part of the meal. Overall very good.

The breakfast at this cafe is awesome. My favorite item was the potatoes. I thought everything was cooked perfectly. We had eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and omelets. The mocha was also delicious.

We loved this place! I'm a person who cannot live without a hot breakfast, and I'm very picky. First, we ordered coffee and a mimosa. They did not skimp on the champaign! The bar itself is beautiful by the way, carved wood - lovely! The coffee was hands down the most amazing coffee I've ever had. I got an Almond Joy mocha, and it was absolutely brilliant. I don't remember what my mom had, but she raved about it as well. For our meal, mom had a Greek omelette and I had a Mexican omelette. Both fabulous! I'm also not usually very big on breakfast potatoes, but these were very tasty. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and we had other staff members coming by to check on us as well. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommended!

Cute and electric restaurant - we heard from a local shop owner that it was a must for breakfast or lunch (not open for dinner). The BF and I love a good breakfast, so we went Saturday morning. Super friendly service was accompanied by delicious food! The BF had your basic breakfast with eggs, local made sausage and the best cheese grits. I had a super delicious croissant sandwich with ham. Definitely recommend this cute restaurant!

Went here due to the outrageous wait time for Sunday brunch at Local Flavor and was not disappointed with the food selection here. Be aware that it is large portion and their cup of soup was more like a bowl of soup. Great service but the basement location was a little weird for me. Would recommend getting the Veggie burger if you are vegetarian. It's great that Eureka Springs has two great places for food (and possibly more!) for the size of the town. I know tourism brings in a lot of money and people but I know some tourist areas with horrible food with expensive prices (looking at you Niagara Falls).

Great food and service. Neat little place downstairs. Sort of a '60s atmosphere. Good choice of serve yourself coffee. Pancakes have sour cream in the batter. Sausage patty the size of a burger. Veggie grits unique and great taste. All in all a great dining experience. Would go back.

If you're looking for sandwiches, soups & wraps--look no further. This place has a great lunch menu, the atmosphere is eclectic & cozy, and I was impressed with their coffee bar. They had a Mexican coffee that was oh so good--I was able to add in some honey, nutmeg, cinnamon, & vanilla. Great for a cold & rainy day! The only reason I didn't give the full stars is that prices may be a little high, over $10 for the wrap. But as a tourist, I'm prepared to spend more & love to support local. Definitely a great spot to grab a bite, coffee, and perhaps a drink and/or dessert!

We have been coming to Eureka several times a year for the past 20+ years. We always make it a goal to eat breakfast at Mud Street. We are never disappointed with the food or service. Love this place! Me and my husband had breakfast here every morning during our 3 night stay. The server recommended the Mexican omelet and it was amazing! Their pumpkin spiced latte was delicious, served in a generous size cup, perfect start of the day! The quirky lady that greets and sits is so much fun to talk too. Very welcoming.

This is a great spot. Every time we're in Eureka Springs we stop in here for breakfast. The food is always good and the service is warm. You might have to wait for a little bit on a weekend morning but it's worth it.

Charming dive restaurant on main st. Food was great; we had the quiche and a salad. You have to get the almond joy latte! It's dessert and coffee in one. The decor was interesting. Staff was efficient. Prices were average. If you run out of stories, they have trivia cards from the 80s you can ask each other.

The atmosphere is eclectic and warm and as soon as you walk down the stairs, you are greeted with the dessert case! Check out the pies! I had the chicken salad croissant which needed a little salt but other than that had good flavor. Downside, the food took forever to come out. As I left I ordered the alpine white mocha and it was great until I hit the bottom and it was nothing but syrup.

Ordered the Mexican omelette. Interesting combination of flavors. Peppers and onions were a bit under cooked, really need that caramelization to pop and add some extra flavor with the trade off of added time. Already a small wait for fresh and made to order, but that's expected for those who understand what that means. Great ambience, music level fine, plenty of space in seating. Greatly appreciative of gluten free options for my darling. Their veggie cheesy grits were great as well, she enjoyed them a lot.

A must-have when you find yourself in eureka. The breakfast selection is top-notch, and will keep you full all day. I personally like their cheesy garlic grits more than anywhere else I ever had them. The wait can be a bit long if you're starving, so make sure to get there early.

I do not know what the fuss is about, ordered decaf Americano with two shots of espresso (the usual) but what I received was a watered-down tasteless cup of crap, I know good coffee trust me, they missed the mark this time, maybe their food is better I don't know, but the coffee I had sucked. Big disappointment

Cool underground location, great staff, and THE best omelette I've ever had. Self-serve coffee bar and Trivial Pursuit cards at each table make this place a must-visit. Go hungry, leave awesome!

This is where we realized that Eureka Springs is an old hippie town :) The staff's shirts read "medicated for your protection" or something along those lines and it was hilarious. It's like getting home cooking at grandma's/your friend's parent's basement in the 70s... or something. We showed up right as breakfast was ending and they were nice enough to let us get an order in before the kitchen switched over for lunch. Really good loaded hash browns (that were more like breakfast potatoes). They also the world's biggest cinnamon rolls and muffins, but we didn't see those until we were checking out. The staff was all super nice and it definitely seemed to be a popular spot.

We went on a Monday at 10:45. Got seated right away. Garlic grits were great! Try their coffees! Loved the caramel nut mocha. The place was hard to find at first. It's right next to romancing the stone, before u hit the parking lot.

My daughter and I loved this place. The only bad thing was we found it on our last day in Eureka Springs! The food was yummy. The staff were very friendly. The place is cute and the food came quickly. The coffee is some of the best I've ever had. What more could you want?

One of our favorite stops when we are in town! Wife and I decided to have a light lunch so we could save room for their delicious desserts. We always stop for coffee and pue, at the very least, and we are never disappointed! Fun, quirky, uniquely Eureka experience! Thanks again Mud Street!

Cool place. Veggie cheese grits were awesome!! I regret I didn't have room for dessert. They had muffins and homemade cakes, pies, and cheesecake. There was just no room. Totally loved the ambiance and will be back next time we are up this way. Oh and delicious, good, strong coffee.

The day after our wedding night, we came here for breakfast. This restaurant is a very busy place! Bodes well for the food, I'd say. I had the Veggie Hashbrowns, which was chunks of fried potatoes covered in fresh steamed veggies, olives, salsa and cheese. I got a half order, which covered my entire plate so it was definitely plenty. Very tasty and filling. A touch of spice because of the Cavendar's seasoning on the potatoes. Love love! They serve really pretty coffees that look like desserts with sky high whipped cream. There are no biscuits and gravy, which would have made this place a 5-star, but that's just me :) Will go back and try something else, or maybe do lunch instead of breakfast.

Super good food. We weren't expecting much as this area is not known for great food. Boy were we pleasantly surprised and corrected. We had breakfast and the cheese garlic grits are some of the best I have had in a while. The omelets are very well prepared and the "serve yourself" coffee is refreshing as the one server was doing her best to keep up. All in all, she picked up the pace and saved the day with attentive service and the kitchen put the food out super quick. We were pleased with the prices and will definitely come again when we are in town.

Nice place for breakfast with the usual traditional breakfast dishes plus great coffee. Located below street level, the place has a lot of character.

Mud Street Cafe was delicious, and definitely a place to go to when visiting Eureka Springs. Make sure you bring $5 with you for parking downtown. They have a little coffee bar area reminiscent of a place in Dallas called Cafe Brazil, but the food is much, much better. The servers were kind and they even have little games to keep yourself occupied between ordering and getting your food.

Ashlee B.
We ate breakfast here every morning during our stay. The waitress even recognized us by the third day. We tried their coffee, chai tea, espresso drinks, and loved them all. My husband had the Mud Street breakfast 2 out of 3 trips there, and even said if he could eat it every morning, he would. His blueberry pancakes on our last day were just as good. I had a ham and cheese omelet the first day, blueberry muffin the second day, and finally just stuck to what I really loved on the third day... their cottage fries. So simple, and so good. This place was definitely at the top of our list of favorites!

Fun with family here at Mud Street. Service was great and the food came out quickly. I had the Cajun burger without the hot sauce and loved it. My wife had the regular burger minus the onions and added avocado. They gave her half of an sliced avocado right on top. Very good avocado burger.

Heard good things about this place. Went there and had breakfast with a few friends. Service was good. Friendly and helpful. The food came out in a timely manner. The food was okay not the best. Was not worth the price for the quality of the food. Do not know what all the hype is about. The hot chocolate was watery and not very tasty. The decor and feel of the place was more of a coffee drinking/hipster type place. Overall gave it two stars for service. Not impressed with food.

Quirky basement-level cafe with full bar. Great ambiance and interesting menu. I liked it a lot, my wife not so much. I'd definitely eat here again; I think it represents the flavor of Eureka Springs very well.

the most spacious coffee esque place in eureka , serves alcoholic drinks food goes back and forth but always decent , price not all that great and the place can get loud with the obnoxious people that regularly haunt the place , odd openings , its a nice place to take a break in eureka.

We went for a weekday breakfast. Great spread, especially the fresh sausage patties. Serve-your-own coffee (several options) with the option of taking a cup with you when you're all set. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and tasty food.

The ambiance and atmosphere were great, as was the service. That was needed, however, to make up for the disappointingly mediocre food. I would probably eat there again, but I'm not sure how this place won all the "best breakfast in AR" awards boasted on its website.

Great funky casual basement location. Enjoyed pancakes, bagel, eggs, bacon, hot tea, and fruit cup. I like to get fruit, though it is a gamble at many places... I was impressed - - the fruit cup costs around $4, and I started counting when I realized the variety of fruits (14!!!). As with everything else in Eureka Springs, was a pleasure to visit around this time of year when crowds are low. No wait at 8:00 AM. Glad we did not miss.

A hidden (literally) gem below street level. Descend the stairs to a wonderful breakfast spot. Incredible omelets and scrambles. Lots of fresh ingredients. Do not miss the garlic cheese grits.

We originally planned to eat at "Local Flavor" restaurant, but the service attitude over there was just...arrogant and unacceptable. We did not want to spend a penny for that kind of service (no matter how good their food is), so my group walked away from Local Flavor. (You can read my 1 star review for them.) While wondering under the hot sun, feeling hungry and thirsty with sour flavor from Local Flavor restaurant, we accidentally spotted the Mud Street Cafe. It was about 2:20PM. Most restaurants were preparing to close. However, the hostess was happy to see us. She gave us a cool AC areas, ice water, and the food was super yummy and fresh. I and my sisters were happy and delighted with their friendly service. The waitress even gave us a brief history about Mud Street Cafe. We had good time here, and will highly recommend their Roasted Beef Sandwich Dip in Au sauce. Yum~~~

I never eat at the same place twice on a vacation, but when my 2 BFFs & I were in Eureka Springs for a few days, we ate here 3 times. It was the first time I ate lunch there; the Greek chicken & the Grownup Grilled Cheese were both incredible. The raspberry cheesecake...WHOA. Breakfast is awesome. I could never eat all of the Greek omelette & the scrumptious garlic cheese grits, so on our final day in town I ventured to see if they would put all the Greek omelette toppings onto the garlic cheese grits, and BEHOLD! They did! It was awesome. The coffee is great. I snagged a bag of the Costa Rica to bring home with me & I'm still working on it. The wait staff was always awesome, with a huge shout-out to Caraugh (am I spelling that right?). I would recommend this place to anyone, & I will definitely never visit Eureka Springs without eating here. Protip: eat at one of the coffee table/couch combos! Our waitress told us you haven't been to Eureka until you've eaten at a coffee table while sitting on a couch. This would be especially cute for a breakfast or lunch date; it would probably also thrill kids.

Love Mud Street Cafe! The food is very good and the service is excellent. We had breakfast there 3 days in a row. My husband is vegan so got the veggie hash browns the first day. The potatoes were good but the veg was a bit lacking. They were steamed but not enough to be cooked and made the potatoes damp. The next two days, he got the potatoes with sauteed onions, peppers, & mushrooms. MUCH better than the steamed veg. The fruit cup was superb - fresh & tasty - and they served the stinky bananas on the side just for me. I had the spinach & mushroom omelette twice with cheese grits & bacon. YUM! We got there in time for me to get a pancake one day. It was delicious and well worth arriving early to try one. Their barista was brand new and doing a great job with the coffee drinks. The syrup is poured, not pumped, so beware the sweet. The owner's daughter, Kara (Cara?) waited on us twice. She's a hoot and just adorable. All the staff were very friendly and happy to please. Go early for breakfast - 8-8:30. Not only are they popular with the tourists, the locals eat there too.

We got there on a Saturday about 10 a.m. I think... no line, seated quickly. Very cool underground, funky, little place. I don't do coffee, but the hot chocolate was muy bueno! Huge cup... drank about half! Gooood stuff!! The gf and I both ordered the breakfast croissant and the garlic cheese grits. We shoulda split it!! The breakfast sandwich was huge! Waaaay too much egg for me but still tasty! Bacon, red onions, black olives (tomato too, yuk!), cheese on a mmm buttery croissant. Oh, and spinach leaves! Seriously big enough for two! The grits... hm... not the usual southern grits that I'm used to! These grits were in slices covered in melty cheese. Pretty good, a lil kick and so dang rich!! Def shoulda split all of this!! Kinda pricey for breakfast... $37 but hey, we were on vaca! Super cute, but limited breakfast menu. Mostly omelettes. But several vegetarian choices too. There were also amazing looking cheesecakes in the case... hated that I was soooo stuffed and couldn't have "breakfast dessert"!! Would def try again for lunch. (they close at 3, i think... breakfast and lunch only!)

Great breakfast experience in Eureka Springs. I love the bohemian feel of this little cafe. They have a great selection including veggie hash and delicious sour cream pancakes. Omelettes from $8.95 with garlic cheese grits and 8-grain bagels for $3 make for a great start to the morning. Their self-serve coffee is easily the best in town, and their home-made muffins looked great (though I didn't try one). The unique location in the underground was neat, our server was very attentive and our food was delicious. Overall, a winner in what can often be a tourist-trap kind of town.

This cafe was an interesting experience. I went with some friends for Sunday morning brunch, and the staff and cafe gave off an eccentric vibe. We had a slice of some Mediterranean vegetable quiche, and it was $10. Standard price for the area, but I wouldn't purchase it again. The real problem was the waitresses lack of service. We couldn't get one to bring us our bill so we started to walk out! Finally, one came to the steps with our bill. Never checked on us. No refills. Just skip this place and try somewhere else, like Local Flavor down the street.

California wrap was great taste & dressing on the side to dip was good! Friendly service, variety of flavors and good coffee options. Everything is $10...salad, sandwich, wrap, burger, everything which felt a little pricey.

Mud Street offers something unique among an already extraordinarily diverse strip of cafes, bars and eateries. Having been to brunch here around 7 times over the last 10 or so years, I can say the food quality has been consistently great and their creative takes on customary breakfast/brunch items are a refreshing respite from the average brunch. Their coffee is probably the best in town, and the service has always been spot on as well. So, whether you are looking for a light and fresh plate of vegetable grits, a stack of rich and buttery berry laden pancakes, or some danged bacon and eggs, Mud Street should be at the top of your list!

This is my go-to place in Eureka Springs, thanks to multiple recommendations from family. The breakfast is phenomenal, though I learned on my last trip they don't open for breakfast on Sundays until 8am. This was the first time we'd had lunch there, and I had the french dip, which was good, and my son had the bacon cheeseburger, which he annihilated, so I'm guessing it was good. The best part of lunch - the moonshine bloody mary. Very friendly and helpful staff who answered all my crazy questions about where else to we should go in town.

Came here for lunch. Very good French Dip. The chicken salad was more savory than I usually care for but it turned addicting. Very good coffee and sinful desserts. Friendly staff.

Got a chicken salad sandwich, which was very good. Interesting decor, but so-so service. Our waitress was chatting with friends (it seemed) and we had to go to the checkout and request the bill, Even then, it had not been figured yet.

WoW. My wife and I loved this place we spent 2 nights in Eureka Springs the first morning we consulted the all mighty and powerful Yelp and it steered us to the Mud Street Cafe, and like away right as rain. We ordered a Mexican omelette's and a pancake with an extra plate. The omelette's was great, potato's were cooked just right, now comes the sour cream pancake, I took the first bite and after I picked myself up off the floor from being the greatest pancake I ever had, and the most memorable, It's hard to describe that a pancake can be this good but oh my. We try not to go to the same place twice while we are in a new place, just so we can try new places but this place is a must to eat at, all the time. Yes we went back the next morn, I needed my pancake fix. On the way out we ordered a slice of lemon cheese cake with strawberry sauce, Oh my! Throw the diet out the window for cheese cake. With a nice selection of coffee, which is self serve, my wife ordered the hot chocolate and it comes out piled high with fresh whipped cream on it drizzled with chocolate sauce. Service was very nice and fast.

The best coffee and breakfast that we have had during our trip. I had a Mayan Mocha which was so good that I got a second one. The garlic cheese grits were very good. My husband got a pancake and omelette. He was very pleased.

I think I'm a little late finding this place, I had been eating at the Main St Cafe for too long. This place is cool and the food is fresh, just take a look in the kitchen as you walk by, they're putting it together as you watch, better than Waffle House, Ha! Ha!

Quick, friendly service. Fantastic healthy options including a great veggie wrap and homemade veggie burgers. They also had traditional lunch fare including burgers that smelled fantastic. The pies were a big hit. Didn't get to try, but they had a moonshine Bloody Mary the day we went.

What a great find in downtown Eureka Springs. You begin by going in the front door and descending downstairs into the basement of an old building off the main street, European-style. Decor is fun, with a funky coffee shop-feel. The lunch menu features an assortment of well-stuffed wraps, yummy salads , soups, and sandwiches. The soup of the day was cream of carrot. I ordered a cup and wished I had ordered a bucket! It was so rich and creamy, slightly sweet and served with a dollop of heavy whipping cream. Excellent! The BLT sandwich was also really good--thick cut bacon that was crispy, nice wheat bread, and fresh veggies. Would have eaten there the next day but they were closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Too bad! Good food!

I drove to Eureka Springs on a whim, as it's always been a place I have wanted to visit. This underground cafe didn't disappoint. I was alone and had been going through a rough spot at the time. The entire staff was beyond hospitable. My waitress, Kara gave me a wonderful espresso shot with a coffee bean back. She also took the time to tell me the best local places to visit. The chicken salad croissant sandwich I ordered was incredibly delish. If I ever go back, this is definitely a must eat at place!

Wife and I went on our honeymoon. My wife had a burger and said it was really good and I had the Reuben and it was awesome it came with lays potato chips which I don't care for but the sandwich more than made up for it. We topped it off with a pot of earl grey. Can't wait to go back next year

Best breakfast my wife and I have ever had. We stumbled on this place this morning on our way home from Branson. Had the omelets which were amazing. My wife had a raspberry white mocha which was great while I tried the house blend coffee and Holiday blend. Both were great. Also had a side of the garlic cheese grits which are a must try. My wife hates grits and loved these. We will drive back from Bentonville for Breakfast sometime now that we know about this place.

Mud St. Cafe is out of this world! Best coffee I've ever had after a day of hiking/camping in Lost Valley. Staff was attentiive..breakfast was good with killer hash browns, fluffy scrambled eggs and home-made sausage. My friend had the Alpine Mocha drink which was heavenly. It's downstairs in what was once the first floor but since the street has been heightened over the last century, it's a ways down. Don't think it's wheelchair accessible. The owners daughter..I think Katie, was veerry nice..kept running into her at different venues the rest of the day. She told me to move there. I'm a sucker for coffee and sweet girls! Think I drank an entire pot of coffee along with my Mud Street Cafe breakfast.. I was happy, full and feeling a bit zippy for hours afterward. A great place to begin your day in Eureka Springs.Check it out!

Best cheesecake EVER. We pulled into Eureka Springs after 2pm on a Sunday. We had seen great yelp reviews for a couple different restaurants, and beware travelers, Eureka Springs closes up early on Sundays- apparently 2:45 pm was too late to serve lunch at some of the establishments. Not the case at Mud Street Cafe. Their daily hours focus on breakfast/lunch/brunch, but that includes the 2 o'clock hour- until 3pm, in fact. Although we walked in at 2:49pm, we were warmly greeted. From our choice table with a view of the whole restaurant, all the patrons seemed happy to be there and engaged with personal conversations with what appeared to be the sole waitress. Our service never missed a beat- if i hadn't been watching, I would've never known she was alone. A few other tables even arrived after us and from my vantage point enjoyed the same service we did. My sandwich, a grape-laced chicken salad on a buttery croissant was super tasty and totally hit the spot. However, as I already eluded, the cheesecake is smack-your-momma good. Simply Ah-mazzzing. Don't skip it, even if you're lactose intolerant-- as my sweetheart is, and he didn't regret it at all!

Just hit town last night....stopped a local to ask where to have breakfast. We were right in front of 'the mud St. Cafe! The coffee is very good, great ambience....I disagree with the other reviewer that it is a hippie joint. Just quaint with personality plus! We both had a breakfast croissant......it was really good! If in town don't miss this one! Ended up eating here every day, had the breakfasts..........super! The potatoes with all the salsa and meat on it were perfect. We had the spicy blackberry muffins to take with us each morning. Don't miss those, they are fantastic. Take out cups on the counter make it possible to take a cup of coffee with you on the way out. Gail seated us each day, love her! She wears a different hat to work, we found her individuality to be the best part, she's friendly and accomodating. Don't miss this little gem in Eureka Springs!!!!!

Decided to stop by here on a day of shopping. The decor was nice. You can smell the fresh brewed coffee when you walk in. Its more of a yuppie/hippie hang out. Maybe... I got the chicken salad croissant. It was okay not bad. Nothing special. Hubs got the Cajun Burger. It was okay but says he has had better. Not a bad place to stop for locals or someone who just wants to hang out and drink some coffee.

This is one of the few times that 5 stars just isn't enough for me. The place is modest in size but great for small parties, although a group of 10+ came in as I was leaving so I'm sure they make it work. I started with coffee, which was freshly roasted in town. If you don't know much about coffee, the difference between fresh roasted coffee and other stuff is the difference between orange and grape jelly and a mimosa. After that I started with a muffin, freshly baked. Absolute heaven. If I wasn't with my girlfriend I would have eaten the entire thing and not needed a breakfast entree. However, I ordered more. I don't recall the name, but it was scrambled eggs with vegetables, potatoes, cheese, sprouts, salsa and olives, maybe something else. Anyway, it was incredible. The entire meal blew me away. It was simple but delicious, and you could tell that you were eating many fresh ingredients that were carefully prepared. I'd probably eat breakfast here every day next time I visit. This is the place to go in Eureka Springs!

I have very mixed feelings about this restaurant... My boyfriend and I ate breakfast here on a Saturday monring, mid May. We were in town for a weekend getaway and decided to have breakfast here based on the good reviews on Yelp. First, I will say that the food was very very good. We both had ham and cheese omelettes with the potatoe fries on the side. The potatoes were pretty good and seasoned well and the omelettes were great. We also split one of their sour cream pancakes and that was really good as well. The reason I'm only giving them 3 stars is because of two things. First, the prices were outrageous. I didn't even get a drink (water only) and our tab for two omelettes and a pancake was $35. I understand it's Eureka Springs and prices everywhere in this town are higher then normal, but $35 for what we got was outrageous. The second reason is that we only saw our waitreess one time and that was when she took our order. Any other time we needed something we had to flag her down. Granted they were pretty busy that morning, but to not check on us one single time... really? Plus at one point we noticed her standing at a table chit chatting with a couple of customers for at least 5 minutes, so how busy could she really have been? To make it even worse she was very unpleasant and not in the least bit friendly. She even acted like my boyfriend was a total idiot because he didn't know that the coffe was "serve yourself" at the coffee bar they have set up. Overall the food was very very good, but the prices were just too rich for my blood and the service was extrememly lacking. I doubt we will ever eat here again.

I visit Eureka Springs, Arkansas 3-4 times a year, and just recently found the Mud Street Cafe. It is located in the "underground" of Eureka Springs. It has the feeling of, what I picture, an old speakeasy. When you walk down a flight of stairs to enter the cafe, the walls are covered with awards, including best coffee in Arkansas. I am a coffee junkie, and ultimately, that is why I like this place so much. They have self serve coffee stations with a variety of coffees. As far as the food goes, I love the veggie hash. Their pancakes are also delightful. Breakfast is served from 8-11, and lunch, 11-3. For lunch, it is mostly a sandwich menu. A lot of choices are offered for places to eat and drink (they also have a full bar) in this one of a kind town, but I highly suggest giving the Mud Street Cafe a try.

Had a wonderful lunch here with family. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed and has wonderful original decorations and art work for sale. It is in a basement and has that college feel but with sophisticated service and very tasty food! Speaking for myself and two family members (who said I could speak for them) : ) the wraps and croissant sandwiches are divine! I had the chicken croissant sandwich which is made up of fresh chicken, grapes, walnuts and dill mixed with a delicious mayonnaise and served with chips for that extra crunch that I love. We were all a little tired after a fun Christmas Holiday so the five of us ordered the coffee which was self serve at little coffee stations in the restaurant .... a great set up as no waiting unless you are lazy! ; ) I was also told to recommend the wraps in particular the California wrap and the Mediterranean wrap. This place is great for a cozy 2 person meal or a large group as they have many different sized tables. I also noticed they had children's books and toys provided in a little corner play area if the little ones are getting restless. It is also walking distance to many great little Eureka Springs stores.

Anytime we visit Eureka overnight, the Mud Street is a must for breakfast. Great omelettes. Voted for best coffee, they have a full espresso bar. Its known as "Underground Eureka" as it is located beneath the busy main street. The building was built in 1888, and at that time was street level. There is a spring that runs underneath that in the late 1800's kept flooding the street, thus the name "Mud Street". The street has since been built up, putting the cafe a level down a flight of stairs. They have wonderful old limestone walls, large wooden beams, and stained glass lighting. The centerpiece of the dining room is a turn of the century oak bar with beveled mirrors. They have wonderful local art on our walls, oak tables and chairs, victorian carpet and a cozy sitting area with magazines and newspapers. Be sure to make this a stop for breakfast. They also serve homeade desserts the evenings of weekends. Breakfast is 8-11am. Lunch isnt half bad either.

I went to this place for breakfast two days in a row while in Eureka Springs for a wedding. The food was quick and tasty. The second day there was a huge wait and we got sat on this little couch and coffee table near the front and it was so comfortable! Everyone was so friendly. I took a cinnamon roll for the road, and man was it DELICIOUS!

A simple, down to earth local cafe, in the basement; it's casual and friendly. We stopped by for breakfast -- a Greek omelet and garlic grits for my partner, and a blueberry pancake for me. The omelet is big and tasty and the grits tasted like polenta (not bad). The lovely wait-staff brought me the pancake, apologizing that the kitchen forgot to add blueberries in; but they were making me a new one. So my partner went ahead and devoured half of the regular pancake for more carbohydrate. My blueberry pancake was good; the warm syrup made it even better. The omelet costs about 8.95, pancake 3,50-- not too bad for a touristy town. Will visit again next time for lunch. Ps. The artworks here are eclectic and interesting. Check out the large painting on the main wall -- is it the Garden of Eden Scandinavian version?

I always eat breakfast (and usually at some point lunch or a light dinner) at Mud St. when I'm in Eureka Springs. They have my very favorite chai steamer, a whole pot of delicious tea and steamed milk. The muffins are always delicious. Great sandwiches for lunch. Fantastic desert selection. Love the atmosphere as well - very cozy. The service can get a little slow when the place is packed, but the staff are always great about letting you know things might take time and being very helpful and friendly.

Housed in a basement building that use to be a brothel (notice the brick design before you walk down into the entry, this place absolutely rocks. Great, relaxed atmosphere. A self service coffee bar provides several selections of really good coffees. I ordered the cajun quiche but they ran out right before me and substituted the vegetable quiche. I was not disapopinted. It was amazing. They served a bowl of chili along with the quiche that was equally as good. And NEVER leave here without having dessert. They make all their own cakes/pies. and they are unbelievably good. I had the coconut cream pie that reminded me of my grandmother's. Great place!

I've eaten at Mud Street whenever visiting Eureka for many years, and their breakfast is the best. (I've not had the pleasure of trying other meals yet). Their pancakes are fabulous, and the omelets amazing, and any of the baked goods are always delicious. The cheese grits are simply not to be missed...the best! And, of course, the coffee drinks and teas are the best in town! It's a typical, funky Eureka atmosphere with friendly staff and comfortable ambiance.

Very eclectic. The breakfast was good. A fun place to eat. Get there early. I assume their "famous" pancakes are good, but they were out of them by 10AM when we got there. Not sure how you run out of pancakes. Beware that the place is downstairs, so just because there isn't a line out the door doesn't mean there isn't a line going down the stairs. But it did turn over tables quickly enough.

Great coffee, great breakfast! Cozy downstairs cavern of a place, just the spot to hit before a day of hiking or sight seeing around Eureka. Sitting amidst the exposed limestone walls and in front of the large oak bar, you truly feel transported to another time. Thankfully, a time when a hearty breakfast and great coffee were appreciated. The veggie hash browns and muffins were fantastic!

As a part timer this is place I often take guests. They always have great coffee, bake goods and sandwiches. A fun place to experience the local flavor. It is hard to decide which I like best breakfast or lunch. A solid great place with interesting decor.

Grits...phenom! Omelette was so-so only because the spinach was not sautéed...which was a bit risky, probably catering to the fresh organic hipster. Wait for it.... the Muddy Mary's were upgraded from Popov to Titos (Popov for a well, is well...sophomoric)...and the result--excellent! Ambiance is brilliant...speak easy like. By far though and hands down, the chocolate raspberry cheesecake was the best dang cheesecake I have EVER tasted. Light as a feather, supremely creamy and sang to me as I tried to finish the huge piece I was served.
(4)Ashley M.
(3)Raton P.
The most comfortable seat in the house is the couch. Only room for two though. The veggie grits were tasty with plenty of veggies. Self serve coffee is a great idea if you drink more than a cup or two.
(5)Amanda H.
Loved our breakfast here. I just wish they would've been open the other days of our trip (we were there Monday through Friday morning) so we could've enjoyed again. When we come back to Eureka we make sure Mud Street Cafe is on our list.
(4)Craig H.

(5)Kate O.

(5)Kristina R.
The atmosphere was very eclectic. Food was good but took longer then I would have expected.
(4)Andrei K.
All in all - to be avoided, especially if you are expecting something extraordinary (like many other places in Eureka Springs are)
(3)John K.
(5)Tony S.
Straight up best breakfast I ever ate in my life. Great coffee, great atmosphere, great service, great prices. The cottage fries are wonderful. You absolutely cannot go wrong here. It will be my "go-to" every time I'm in Eureka Springs.
(5)Patrick H.
- Mud Street is only open for breakfast and lunch. - it's easy to overlook this shop as they are in the basement and the street front entrance is just a door and small window. It kin - they have fast and friendly service - the waiting area is small but th
(5)Barb A.
(4)Rick B.
In Eureka Springs Historic District, breakfast was good, the ambiance is great and the Bloody Mary was delish. I agree with the Yelp reviews for this place and am glad I went. Great service!
(4)Kat W.
Delicious food, delightful atmosphere, and reasonable prices. We will definitely include this in our plans the next time we visit Eureka!
(5)Tammy H.
Love the painted chairs. Very fun funky place for lunch. Great food and atmosphere. We really enjoyed our lunch here and would suggest it to others.
(4)Sam S.

(1)Alex S.
(4)Michael W.
The breakfast at this cafe is awesome. My favorite item was the potatoes. I thought everything was cooked perfectly. We had eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and omelets. The mocha was also delicious.
(5)Lori E.
Wow! Want to move next door! Great organic coffee fresh everything and excellent service! My sister and I spit an omelet with the spicy cheese grits and switched out toast for heavenly pancake. Yumminess!
(5)Chris S.
Great food, great staff. Highly recommend it. Also, your 12-year-old will like the "Cahm-shaw". Just ask Penny, our waitress.
(5)Kayce K.
(5)Coral E.
(5)Tam V.
(4)Roger E.
(4)Diana C.
Oh my. Amazing banana walnut muffin and interesting, intensely flavorful veggie grits. Yum! Had mango coconut muffin today. Yum.
(5)Jennifer M.

We have had lunch there too and it is always great as well. We always look forward to eating there. Don't miss out. We miss Llee thou. (Retired). Cheers.

Great place! Grouchy hostess but she sets the tone for the place. We went for breakfast and again another day for lunch. Well worth the wait! Slinger shot was great!!!
(4)Alina D.
(5)Greg L.
This is a great spot. Every time we're in Eureka Springs we stop in here for breakfast. The food is always good and the service is warm. You might have to wait for a little bit on a weekend morning but it's worth it.
(4)Adriana M.
(5)Brent M.
Great place! Cool atmosphere with good food and great coffee! Definitely will be back for more!
(5)Tori K.
(4)Aaron C.
(4)Michael W.
A must-have when you find yourself in eureka. The breakfast selection is top-notch, and will keep you full all day. I personally like their cheesy garlic grits more than anywhere else I ever had them. The wait can be a bit long if you're starving, so make sure to get there early.
(5)Lady G.
(2)Jennifer S.
Cool underground location, great staff, and THE best omelette I've ever had. Self-serve coffee bar and Trivial Pursuit cards at each table make this place a must-visit. Go hungry, leave awesome!
(5)Kimberly W.
(4)Kelly R.
We went on a Monday at 10:45. Got seated right away. Garlic grits were great! Try their coffees! Loved the caramel nut mocha. The place was hard to find at first. It's right next to romancing the stone, before u hit the parking lot.
(5)Robin R.
My daughter and I loved this place. The only bad thing was we found it on our last day in Eureka Springs! The food was yummy. The staff were very friendly. The place is cute and the food came quickly. The coffee is some of the best I've ever had. What more could you want?
(5)Corbin C.
One of our favorite stops when we are in town! Wife and I decided to have a light lunch so we could save room for their delicious desserts. We always stop for coffee and pue, at the very least, and we are never disappointed! Fun, quirky, uniquely Eureka experience! Thanks again Mud Street!
(5)Eileen E.
Cool place. Veggie cheese grits were awesome!! I regret I didn't have room for dessert. They had muffins and homemade cakes, pies, and cheesecake. There was just no room. Totally loved the ambiance and will be back next time we are up this way. Oh and delicious, good, strong coffee.
(5)Shilo M.
Had the Reuben and it was awesome! Friendly waitress, warm environment, will go again!
(5)Dianna S.
(4)James M.
(4)Marcus A.
Nice place for breakfast with the usual traditional breakfast dishes plus great coffee. Located below street level, the place has a lot of character.
(4)Shams B.
(4)Ashlee B.
(5)Annessa J.
This is a great place to eat! Friendly staff. A bit for the food. But the joe is supreme! !!! I love being here with my beloved... It's makes everything better.
(3)Chad M.
Fun with family here at Mud Street. Service was great and the food came out quickly. I had the Cajun burger without the hot sauce and loved it. My wife had the regular burger minus the onions and added avocado. They gave her half of an sliced avocado right on top. Very good avocado burger.
(5)Sara N.
(2)Rick T.
Quirky basement-level cafe with full bar. Great ambiance and interesting menu. I liked it a lot, my wife not so much. I'd definitely eat here again; I think it represents the flavor of Eureka Springs very well.
(4)Ed P.
the most spacious coffee esque place in eureka , serves alcoholic drinks food goes back and forth but always decent , price not all that great and the place can get loud with the obnoxious people that regularly haunt the place , odd openings , its a nice place to take a break in eureka.
(3)E S.
We went for a weekday breakfast. Great spread, especially the fresh sausage patties. Serve-your-own coffee (several options) with the option of taking a cup with you when you're all set. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and tasty food.
(4)Josh H.
The ambiance and atmosphere were great, as was the service. That was needed, however, to make up for the disappointingly mediocre food. I would probably eat there again, but I'm not sure how this place won all the "best breakfast in AR" awards boasted on its website.
(3)Bob J.
(5)Michael M.
A hidden (literally) gem below street level. Descend the stairs to a wonderful breakfast spot. Incredible omelets and scrambles. Lots of fresh ingredients. Do not miss the garlic cheese grits.
(5)Jami M.
Bacon cheeseburger and mushroom and Swiss burger were delicious! Pretty busy but didn't wait too long. Good service. Only complaint is its a little dark and hard to see menu.
(4)KY C.
Yum~~~
(5)Hillary G.
(5)Charlee G.
(4)Pam G.
(3)Alexis R.
(5)Amanda J.
(2)Susan V.
California wrap was great taste & dressing on the side to dip was good! Friendly service, variety of flavors and good coffee options. Everything is $10...salad, sandwich, wrap, burger, everything which felt a little pricey.
(4)Shelby B.
(4)Shelley C.
(5)Michael G.
Came here for lunch. Very good French Dip. The chicken salad was more savory than I usually care for but it turned addicting. Very good coffee and sinful desserts. Friendly staff.
(4)Mark B.
Friendly waitstaff accompanied by a yummy breakfast! Veggie hash was spot on and the organic Mexican coffee brightened my morning. Make it a point to eat here at least once on your vacation. You will thank me.
(5)Denise M.
Got a chicken salad sandwich, which was very good. Interesting decor, but so-so service. Our waitress was chatting with friends (it seemed) and we had to go to the checkout and request the bill, Even then, it had not been figured yet.
(3)Lee A.
(5)Ashley R.
The best coffee and breakfast that we have had during our trip. I had a Mayan Mocha which was so good that I got a second one. The garlic cheese grits were very good. My husband got a pancake and omelette. He was very pleased.
(5)Bill D.
I think I'm a little late finding this place, I had been eating at the Main St Cafe for too long. This place is cool and the food is fresh, just take a look in the kitchen as you walk by, they're putting it together as you watch, better than Waffle House, Ha! Ha!
(4)La Q.
Quick, friendly service. Fantastic healthy options including a great veggie wrap and homemade veggie burgers. They also had traditional lunch fare including burgers that smelled fantastic. The pies were a big hit. Didn't get to try, but they had a moonshine Bloody Mary the day we went.
(5)Daniel B.
Too bad! Good food!
(4)Lindsay A.
(5)Casey M.
Wife and I went on our honeymoon. My wife had a burger and said it was really good and I had the Reuben and it was awesome it came with lays potato chips which I don't care for but the sandwich more than made up for it. We topped it off with a pot of earl grey. Can't wait to go back next year
(4)Nick M.

(5)Cindy C.
(5)Olivia D.
(2)Danny F.

(4)Kate N.
(5)Robert B.
What a find. You walk downstairs from the street to a very charming little restaurant with loads of atmosphere. Delicious pancakes-their specialty. A must when in Eureka Springs.
(5)Cassie M.
(4)Kay W.
(4)Karmic B.
(4)Barry R.
Great breakfast and lunch! Must visit when in Eureka Springs!
(5)Penny M.
(4)Rick B.
(5)Chris S.
Nice coffee, good service, quaint location. Possibly best coffee in Eureka.
(4)Linda P.
(4)C T.
(4)Keith H.
Love their breakfasts, desserts, coffee and atmosphere!!!!!!
(5)Geraldine M.
The best part of waking up! Great coffee and great food. The wait service is extremely helpful. Good experience!
(5)Guy T.
A must when in Eureka Springs for both breakfast and lunch. They have a bar, barista, and great ambiance. Best coconut cream pie ever.
(4)Ben K.
This place has fantastic food. Burgers, chicken, etc. Plus, they had New Belgium 1554. A winner in my book.

Good atmosphere, great food (we ate lunch) and assorted coffee drinks, and probably the best banana chocolate peanut butter cheesecake I have ever eaten. A 'must' when considering breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Great place. Food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and fast despite being busy.
